December 12th, 2011 at 6:41 am by under Entertainment, General Talk, The Rhode Show

Today is the day thatI’ve been waiting for since October 6th we had our intial auditions at Twin River. I have been amazed, educated, grateful, nervous, confident, and every other emotion under the sun since I received that intial call letting me know I was a part of the Top 20. My life has been the wildest roller coaster ride and I have to tell you, I’m not ready to get off.

Not only have I learned exactly what I want to pursure in life but because of this experience I have also made two friends that I believe will be in my life forever.

As we wrap our final day as The Top 5 here’s where you can find us:

We will be  starting with an appearance all together on The Rhode Show LIVE from Cardi’s in Warwick as we help them prepare for the Toys for Tots drive. We will be joined by Cat Country’s Jess, Brian, and Amanda in addition to the Ni Ro Pe and the Marines.

Next we will be personalizing Toys for Tots bins to fill up with YOUR help from 12 to 1pm and *Cardi’s on Rt 2 in Warwick, so please come down say hello and donate an un-wrapped toy to make Christmas amazing for a less fortunate child!

*1681 Quaker Ln, West Warwick, RI 02893 (401) 826-5600

Then it’s on to Studio B for a few hours of pampering to relax and prepare us for the big reveal tonight!

Last, we will be LIVE at Jacky’s in beautiful down town Providence as the winner is revealed at 7:30 pm on Fox Providence!

Then it’s off to WPRI to Co Host The Rhode Show! If you’re a loyal Rhode Show viewer you know that this will be my first time appearing on the big white couch and not in the kitchen!! So be sure to tune in at 8 AM to catch me chatting it up and debuting my last Top 5 assignment, Tera Travels, featuring Tavern 743 in Smithfield, RI.

And just when you think I’m done…..WRONG!!!

Wednesday December 7th I’ll be getting my ice skate on with none other than Mickey and Minnie Mouse!

We have been invited to The Bank of America Pavillion in Providence to learn a routine with two of Disney’s biggest stars! As a former Disney Princess, no really, this is going to be a blast.

Thursday December 8th will be my final test as that’s my interview with the King of WPRI Mr.Jay. I’m looking forward to chatting with him and learning exactly what the position will entail.

And for a big finale all 5 of us will be LIVE at Cardi’s assisting with their Toys for Tots drive on Monday December 12th.

Make Up, Clothes, and Dunkin Donuts

November 22nd, 2011 at 3:59 pm by under General Talk, The Rhode Show

This week’s assignment was a nice little change from what has now become the “norm”. We had the chance to meet with the amazingly brilliant Jill Marinelli of JM Stylist and discuss the do’s and don’ts of TV wardrobe as well as learn how to dress for our body types! Look out world I’m an Inverted Triangle…..translation I’m like JLO and Jennifer Love Hewitt, yes I know those are two people you see in your mind when you think of me ;) .

All joking aside, Jill was very helpful and reminded us that the TV world is very different from the real world and bigger and brighter may not always be the best way to go. But being a TV Co Host isn’t just about wardrobe we also need to be prepared for those up close and personal shots, that Ric loves to catch, so we also met with the lovely Kirsten from Jolie Visage. I was really excited after our time with Kirsten because I LOVE LOVE LOVE getting dolled up and sporting big hair and to my delight Kirsten encouraged us to be bolder with our make up and learn to amp the hair up a little. Like Jill, Kirsten reminded us that the camera can wash us out so we learned to apply our make up in a way that will make us look fresh and wide awake while we enjoy our Dunkin Donuts coffee with you every morning.

Speaking of Dunkin Donuts……after all of the beauty chatting we were whisked away to the Eddy Street Dunkin Donuts to film our own little promo shots which will air the week of Monday December 5th! Here’s a peek at my shoot!

To find out what my mornings run on tune in to The Rhode Show on Tuesday December 6th at 8am as I co host the show!!

Until Next Time, T

Charity and The Grinch

November 16th, 2011 at 10:59 am by under The Rhode Show

Week 2 in our friendly competition had a very different feel. This weeks on air assignment was to head out into the community and interview local charities. This assignment was, for me, much easier than week 1. I loved researching information in order to appropriately tell the clients story and of course meeting/interviewing new people is always fun.

My charity was Special Olympics Rhode Island, and I couldn’t have been more thrilled.

From the moment I walked in I knew this package was going to be one I would be proud of! Be sure to tune in and see all of the great things SORI has to offer on Thursday December 1st at 8AM!

But this week wasn’t all work, all 5 of us were invited to opening night of How The Grinch Stole Christmas at PPAC.

Armed with Rhode Show goodies we greeted guests as they entered the theatre and chatted with them about the show and our Search For A Star Roles. After our meet and greet, PPAC generously presented us with tickets to the show and we even got to meet a Grinch and some Rhode Show fans!

 Check out our adventures here!

The show was fantastic and it was so fun laughing with my fellow contestants. Another week down, a few more to go, I’m ready!

Until Next Time, T

Cutting Room Floor

November 9th, 2011 at 1:33 pm by under The Rhode Show

I don’t know if you’re like me but I have always wondered how a news story/package comes together. For instance, who chooses the music that is playing ever so softly in the background, how do those awesome effects end up in your video to make everything transition so smoothly, and how do you ever choose what is actually going to be IN the video and what’s deemed to live on the cutting room floor.

Well all of these things and more were answered for me yesterday when I spent the day at WPRI editing and creating my first ever Rhode Show package. From learning how to log the codes so slick Nick can make my clips into a beautiful “movie”, to laying down voice tracks in the booth- yesterday was exciting, knowledgeable, and made me want to do it all over again.

And of course it wouldn’t be a Search For A Star Top 5 day without the amazing Ric following us around with the video camera!

Be sure to catch my “All About Me” package LIVE on air next Tuesday 11/15/11!!! And keep voting!!

Top 5- What A Ride

November 7th, 2011 at 2:53 pm by under General Talk, The Rhode Show

Happy Monday Afternoon Rhode Show fans!

I would first like to take a minute to thank each and every friend, family member, and business that supported and voted for me to make it this far in the Competition. Gaining a spot in the Top 5 is a dream come true in it’s self, while I can’t speak for the other 4 ladies I was genuinely shocked when the Top 5 was announced. It’s a moment that I will never forget and a reminder that if you work hard at something and become passionate about following your dreams they just might come true.

I love the idea of The Rhode Show allowing us to blog through out the next few weeks as it will allow you as viewers to gain a behind the scenes look at just how rigorous this competition is. I will try my best to give you a play by play of the Challenges the Producers have set before us in hopes that you’ll get to know me a little better.

This first Challenge is, for me, the most difficult as it’s the most open ended. We have to create a 2 minute package about ourselves to inform the viewers about our lives-hobbies-jobs etc , and for those of you who know me I talk A LOT and 2 minutes is not a long time ;) .

We are not only shooting our own videos but we must learn how to edit and write scripts so that when the package is complete it looks as fantastic as the one’s you have already been watching everyday on The Rhode Show! You can look for our first assignments to air next week LIVE on the show.

I’m off to shoot some video now!!

Until Next Time, T
