Hollywood Week Continues
After watching two nights of Hollywood week….we lost one local, but one remains. Amedeo DiRocco of Johnston didn’t make it past the first day, but Ellery Bonham of East Greenwich did….although we still have not seen her perform on the show. We never saw Kris Allen either…hmmmm…..
It was pretty easy to weed out the not-so-good singers on Day 1. It’s amazing some even made it to Hollywood. I think Amedeo could have made it another day if he had chosen a better song from Frank Sinatra. He chose “That’s Life”, and he seemed to scream it, more than sing it. He has a very nice voice, and I think he would’ve been better served to sing something a little less lively…”Summer Wind” perhaps
The singing highlight of the week, handsdown, was from my boy, Andrew Garcia. He’s ready to take it to the top 10 right now. He sang his own version of Paula Abdul’s “Straight Up”. It was incredible!!!!! I literally got shivers down my spine. Watch this kid !!
We also saw an incredible performance from Katie Stevens of Connecticut. She seems far beyond her 17 years of age. Watch her closely, too.
I know I’m not the only one to think this way….I think Group Night is unfair. The best example of this is with Matt Lawrence . This country crooner was singing Lady Gaga. Granted he should’ve sought a group singing a song more his style, but Matt got the boot because he can’t really sing Lady Gaga. To further this thinking, let’s say he got through Hollywood Week, made it to the Top 10, signed a record deal…etc, etc….he would never sing a Lady Gaga-like song. The AI judges always say song choice is important. It should be in Hollywood Week, too. Just my two cents.
